Since its foundation in 1977 headed by festival director Serge Losique the World Film Festival Montreal (Festival des films du monde) was the only A category film festival in Northern America. It was committed to cultural diversity, innovation, independence and creativity, said Losique. The last festival edition took place in 2018. An Ecumenical Jury existed 1979-2015.
