The Prize of the First Ecumenical Jury at the World Film Festival in Montreal 1979 went to “La isla” by Alejandro Doria from Argentina. The Grand Prix des Amériques was won by “1 + 1 = 3” by Heidi Genée from the Federal Republic of Germany.

Peter Paul Huth comments favourably on the 2026 Venice Film Festival awards ceremony, highlighting in particular the Golden Lion winner, “Kvinde Ukendt” (Unknown Woman) by May el-Toukhy, and “Un bon petit soldat” by Stéphane Brizé, which won the award for Best Screenplay and the INTERFILM Jury Prize.
