Dr. Stefanie Schardien (*1976) is the Theological Director of the Joint Association of Protestant Media Communication (GEP) & Commissioner for Media Affairs of the Protestant Church of Germany (EKD). As ordained pastor she served several years in a parish in Fürth / Bavaria. Before, she was pastor for children’s ministry in the Bavarian church and Junior Professor for Systematics at Hildesheim University. For many years she is hosting church programs on radio and TV, such as “Das Wort zum Sonntag”. For the protestant magazine chrismon she writes her monthly column “andererseits” on ethical questions every month. Her PhD thesis in ecumenical ethics dealt with the churches’ perspectives on end-of-life-conflicts. Stefanie will join the Ecumenical Jury in 2025 for the first time.

Following the promising nominations, the Oscar ceremony felt like a disappointment. For the first time, the Academy had nominated international films such as “Sentimental Value” from Norway and “Secret Agent” from Brazil in the Best Picture category.
