An INTERFILM Jury awarded a Prize in Locarno only once, in 1965 to "Aarohi" (Ascent) by Tapan Sinha from India, shot in Bengali. 1973 INTERFILM and OCIC formed an ecumenical jury. The main prize of the festival, the Golden Sail, went to "Four in the Morning" by Anthony Simmons (United Kingdom, 1965), and two Silver Sails to "I pugni in tasca" (Fist in the Pocket, Italy 1965) by Marco Bellocchio, and to "Álmodozások kora" (Age of Illusions, Hungary, 1964) for the Best First Picture. The Fipresci Jury awarded "Perličky na dně" ((Pearls in the Deep, Czechoslovakia, 1965), an omnibus film by Věra Chytilová, Jaromil Jireš, Jirí Menzel, Jan Nemec and Ewald Schorm.

The film shows a clear tendency towards better human relationships and a better understanding between people. On the basis of an unshakable optimism it contains a positive message from the Orient about life and people which the West should not ignore.
