The World Association for Christian Communication (WACC) is a non-governmental, ecumenical organisation that builds on communication rights in order to promote social justice. WACC offers professional guidance on communication policies, interprets developments in global communications, and discusses the consequences which such developments have for Churches and communities everywhere, especially in the South. SIGNIS is a non-governmental, global, Catholic media association which covers all fields of communication: cinema, radio, television, video, media education and new technologies. It emerged in 2001 when the film and cinema organisation OCIC (Office Catholique International de Cinéma) and the radio and television organisation UNDA, both founded in 1928, were unified. The SIGNIS mission is to promote a culture of peace through the media. Its members are Catholic media associations, either national or international. 

Current issues

Peter Paul Huth comments favourably on the 2026 Venice Film Festival awards ceremony, highlighting in particular the Golden Lion winner, “Kvinde Ukendt” (Unknown Woman) by May el-Toukhy, and “Un bon petit soldat” by Stéphane Brizé, which won the award for Best Screenplay and the INTERFILM Jury Prize.
Alex Gibney’s documentary *Musk* portrays a ‘hero of capitalism’, whilst Ilya Khrzhanovsky’s *DAU* evokes the victims of Stalinism.
