Andraž Arko, born 1977 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, graduating in social education and later in theology, obtained a PhD in the pedagogical applicability of movies in pastoral ministry. He is a Franciscan, now a parish priest in Nazarje. Since 1999 he has been involved in movie education and criticism, writing reviews for the catholic magazine Družina and the political magazine Domovina. He has published 3 books on movie education: Filmski izziv (The Film Challenge, 2014), Pasijon po Gibsonu (The Passion According to Gibson, 2016), and Svetniki na filmskem platnu (Saints on Screen, 2025). As a producer and screenwriter, he made the documentary "Plečnikov skriti biser" (Plečnik's Hidden Gem, 2021, Ljubljana City Award) and some short films. For four years he was a member of the audio-visual media jury for the Prešeren Awards, Slovenia's highest award in culture.
