Daniel Gewand studied Catholic theology in Bochum. He completed training in parish service in Oldenburg and in journalism at the Catholic School of Journalism ifp in Munich and at the WDR in Cologne. In 2015 he founded the project frei.raum.coesfeld, which aims to open up new, unconventional spaces of faith, spirituality and religion, especially for young adults. Since 2009 he has been author and speaker for "Kirche in 1Live" and since 2015 he has been responsible for the sermon format "Gedanken zum Tag" at the local radio station "Radio Kiepenkerl". Music, literature, film and art are his sources of inspiration.

"Defiant" by director Visa Koiso-Kanttila wins the Prize of the Church Media Foundation in Finland at the International Chidren's and Youth Festival in Oulu 2025.
The Hof Film Festival is now in its 58th year and has become a hallmark of the city, which is why Hof likes to call itself the “Home of Films,” a phrase that is said to have originated with Wim Wenders. In the late 1960s and 1970s, the Munich film scene came to Hof (...). As a nostalgic reminder, this year there was a 35mm screening of Fassbinder's early work “Gods of the Plague”. Peter Paul Huth reports about the festival.
