Philippe Cabrol (*1955) was associate professor in Social Sciences and trainer at the Catholic University of the West, located in Angers. Now retired. Editor of film reviews for Catholic Education, for the diocese of Montpellier and for SIGNIS France. Vice-president of the “Christians and Cultures” association in Montpellier and co-leader of the programming team of the Christian Cinema Festival. Organizer and speaker at cinematographic meetings, Pézenas (France). Animation of “film debates” in schools and associations (Action of Christians for the Abolition of Torture). Representative of French Catholic Education for cinema on the Commission of the Bishops of France.  Member of ecumenical juries in Toulouse and San Sebastian for SIGNIS.

The Hof Film Festival is now in its 58th year and has become a hallmark of the city, which is why Hof likes to call itself the “Home of Films,” a phrase that is said to have originated with Wim Wenders. In the late 1960s and 1970s, the Munich film scene came to Hof (...). As a nostalgic reminder, this year there was a 35mm screening of Fassbinder's early work “Gods of the Plague”. Peter Paul Huth reports about the festival.
