In Budapest at the end of April 2023, INTERFILM is organising a seminar on the history of Hungarian film and the current situation in Central and Eastern Europe. The focus is on the history of cinema in Hungary since the 1950s, with directors such as Zoltán Fábri, Miklós Jancsó, István Szabó, Márta Meszáros and Ildikó Enyedi, but also films of the last two decades by Nimrod Antal, Bela Tarr and Dénes Nagy. In addition, the seminar will take a look at the current situation in Ukraine and its cinematic treatment as well as the shaking of familiar film cultural parameters by the Russian military aggression.
