Maggie Morgan is an Egyptian filmmaker, festival programmer, mentor and consultant. She has directed both feature films and shorts. Her feature films include From Within Their StoriesAsham, and From Meir to Meir.  Her documentary From Meir to Meir received the prize for best Egyptian film at Aswan International Film Festival 2021, the Special Jury Prize at National Film Festival 2021, and the Ahmed Bakry Prize at All-Quds International Film Festival 2021. Her latest documentary, The Memoirs of M.A. Draz,  premiered at the Aswan International Women’s Film Festival in April 2024 and won the Special Jury Prize and the prize for Best Euro-Mediterranean Film (ex-aequo.) She has been a programmer with the Cairo International Film Festival since 2019. She lives in Egypt and is an adjunct of the film faculty at the American University in Cairo.

The Locarno Film Festival is not Cannes. There are no red carpets and grand entries and no photographers vying for the attention of stars. In fact, stars are not the highlight of the event.
