Dr Stephen Brown (*1958), theologian and journalist, editor of The Ecumenical Review, World Council of Churches, Geneva, 2017- 2025. Associate member of the Institut romand de systématique et d’éthique (IRSE) at the University of Geneva since 2025. A former member of the board of the World Association for Christian Communication (WACC), he was a co-organizer of the European Festival of Religious Television Programmes in Paris (2017) and Berlin (2023). Born in Britain, studies in International Development and then Theology (Cambridge and Berlin). PhD for a dissertation on the churches and ecumenism in the GDR. Managing editor, Ecumenical News International, Geneva, 1994-2010, and director of online libraries at Globethics, Geneva, 2011-2015.

Following the promising nominations, the Oscar ceremony felt like a disappointment. For the first time, the Academy had nominated international films such as “Sentimental Value” from Norway and “Secret Agent” from Brazil in the Best Picture category. Yet in the end, it was American productions that walked away with all the awards.
