Giorgi Abashishvili (*1976 in Tbilisi/Georgia) spent his childhood in the Soviet Union. As a teenager, he experienced the upheaval there and studied during the civil war in Georgia. He completed his studies with a degree in engineering at the Technical University of Tbilisi. He then studied film and television directing at the Kunsthochschule Kassel. After graduating, he was appointed a master student there. In Georgia and Germany, he made films such as THE COW, A SMALL ROOM and ALL ABOUT PEOPLE. In 2012, he was voted one of the best young Georgian directors and produced another short film, COMEBACK, in Georgia. Giorgi Abashishvili has taught at the Georgian National Film Centre as well as at the University of Kassel. He is a co-founder of the Hessen-based film production company LPP - Living Pictures Production (Kassel). He works in documentary and feature film.
