Formerly director of film at Trinity & All Saints Institute at the University of Leeds, Alan Foale (born 1949) specialised in cinema and drama, using films as pedagogic tools as well as objects of study. He has a special interest in cinema as cultural communication and offered courses in the field of world cinema (African, Indian, Japanese). He remains engaged in film education, with Ciné Clubs and with the promotion of rural cinema in Yorkshire. He is also closely involved in community theatre as actor and director.

Current issues

The quality of the films in competition in TIFF24, the Transilvania International Film Festival in Cuj-Napoca, was outstanding and impressed the ecumenical jury. The festival focusses on debuts of filmmakers or second films.
