This atmospheric, intense miniature drama explores the relationship between fate and active choice, imagination and realism, love and sexuality, denial and desire, and women and men. It captivates through its ensemble acting, dialogue, setting and atmosphere, and through its ending, which has a physically overwhelming effect on the viewer, its ambivalence captured in a single final image.

The film is a gradually intensifying cry from a man under duress for his right to be recognised as an individual.

With its deeply moving impact, it can also be seen as an allegory for the plight of asylum seekers in our society.
