Dr. Petra Bahr is the regional bishop for the Hanover district of the Lutheran Church of Hanover since January 2017. After training as a journalist, she studied theology and philosophy in Muenster, Bochum and Jerusalem. Following a period with a management consultancy, she was a consultant for theology at the FEST (Research Institute of the Protestant Study Community) in Heidelberg from 2000 to 2005. She completed her doctorate in 2002 at the University of Basel on Immanuel Kant's "Critique of the Power of Judgement" and taught philosophy of religion and ethics at the University of Frankfurt a. M. from 2000 to 2006. From 2006 to 2014, she was the Cultural Commissioner of the Council of the EKD (Evangelical Church in Germany). From 2014 to 2016, she headed the Department of Politics and Consultancy of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. Petra Bahr is a member of the German Ethics Council since 2020.
