After studying sociology and social psychology in Florence and Rome Gianna Urizio (*1946) worked as TV producer and author for the TV program "Protestantesimo" on the Italian TV station Rai Due. As program director, she made many documentaries around the world exploring different approaches to faiths, cultures and lifestyles. From 1993 to 1998, Gianna Urizio was chief editor of the program. At that time, she also became involved in the international ecumenical world, first with the World Council of Churches’ Development Education Programme, then with WACC (World Association of Christian Communication) and INTERFILM. 2002-2005 she was President of WACC Europe. In 2002, she founded, together with others, the Italian Protestant film association "Roberto Sbaffi", and collaborated in the creation of an INTERFILM Juty at the Venice Film Festival (since 20211). 2004-2019 she was member of the INTERFILM Board. Honorary member of INTERFILM since 2019. Retired, she still actively promotes human rights, justice and peace in Rome where she lives.
