The German production *Staatsschutz* (Prosecution) by Faraz Shariat has won the Ecumenical Jury Prize at Cinefest Miskolc 2026. The film also received the award from the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI). The Adolph Zukor Award, the Jury’s Grand Prize, was awarded to “Földszint” (Ground Floor, Hungary, Italy 2026) by Gábor Reisz, whilst the Emeric Pressburger Award for Best Film went to “L’Espéce explosive” (Too Many Beasts, France 2026) by Sarah Arnold.
The 22nd CineFest opened with “La bataille de Gaulle: L’âge de fer” (De Gaulle: Résistance) by Antonin Baudry (France, Belgium, USA 2026). The film tells the story of how General Charles de Gaulle, an unknown officer who had fled to London, became a key figure in the French Resistance during the Second World War.
The festival's Lifetime Achievement Award went to the Hungarian actor Sándor Gáspár, whilst the Award for Ambassador of European Cinema was presented to the Scottish director and producer Kevin MacDonald.
The Ecumenical Jury awards its prize to a film from the international feature film competition.
