The German Turk Murat Kurnaz (Sascha Alexander Gersak) earns his living in a Turkish disco. When is friend Oktay dies in a knife fight, he decides to change his life. He begins to learn about the Islamic faith and wants to attend a madrassa in Pakistan. There he is arrested at a security check and forwarded to the US armed forces in Afghanistan who, in the end, take him to the Guantanamo prison camp.
