Sushenya, a young Belarussian family man, is declared as traitor. His comrades fighting as partisans against the German army nevertheless want to execute him. With a sensitive staging and convincing performances of the actors the director manages to address universal questions of people in the situation of war in a virtuoso way. (Jury motivation)
