Locarno 2020: For the Future of Films

Under the motto: "For the Future of Films" the Locarno 2020 film festival took place partly on site, partly online. In the competition section The Films After Tomorrow, 20 filmmakers presented projects that have not yet been completed, which will be supported in this way. For their part, each of them selected a film from the festival history that was shown online (on the MUBI platform) and on site. The short films from the Pardo di domani competition program were also presented online and live. Open Doors screened films from the global south and east, and in the Secret Screenings, festival director Lili Hinstin presented a series of surprise films - all live.

Without the International Competition there has been also no Ecumenical Jury in Locarno this year.
