In his first feature film, Yilmaz Arslan – born in 1968 – draws on autobiographical experiences to tell the story of a rehabilitation centre where young people from different countries, with a wide variety of disabilities, live together. Cut off from the outside world, the longing for recognition and affection intensifies within this imposed community.
In the cold, artificial light of the empty corridors, these young people encounter one another in their search for love and sexuality. Striking a balance between closeness and distance, the film avoids any display of pity; instead, it elicits the viewer’s sympathy and admiration for the performances of the actors, who are playing themselves.
