In a small town near Berlin: Aleksey, the son of a Russian military officer, lives on the barracks grounds. His accordion is his constant companion. On his wanderings through the town, he meets Sabine at a music school. He is fascinated by her accordion playing and follows her. The two teenagers develop a relationship, but it is thwarted by circumstances beyond their control. Aleksey runs away from the barracks and goes into hiding in Berlin. When he tries to return, the barracks are empty; all the families have been moved away. Sabine throws herself into her accordion playing. According to her father’s wishes, the accordion competition in Klingenthal is to mark the start of her career. Both children resist the ideas and expectations of their parents, who are among the losers of the upheaval in East Germany. (Basis-Film Distribution)
