The film uses fragments of everyday life to construct the experiential world of a child whose life is shattered by the death of his father. The award recognizes both the director’s aesthetic mastery and his ability to create a compelling portrayal of the fragility of human existence, which finds its anchor in an unexpected gesture of compassion.
The Prize of the INTERFILM Jury is endowed with 2.000 DM, donated by the Protestant Church District Oberhausen.
