Active in OCIC/SIGNIS since the mid sixties Gustavo was elected president of SIGNIS-Cuba in 1994. SIGNIS Cuba is active in several lines of work: publications, video productions, cineclubs (film review clubs), participation in national and regional film and video festivals and a variety of education and training activities. In 2009 Gustavo was elected SIGNIS-World Vice President for a second term of office. He is the founder and director of the SIGNIS-Cuba magazine ECOS devoted to audio-visual media and a member of the media commission for the Cuban Catholic Bishop Conference. Gustavo is also an executive producer for documentaries and an accomplished Film and media critic. who has been a member of several SIGNIS juries at international, regional (Latin America) and national levels like Zanzibar, 2010/ Fest Dom.Rep., 2010, Washington 2011, Divercine 2012 and Venice 2012. In 2014, he was elected President of SIGNIS-World.
